CollectA: Blobfish
The Blobfish is a deep-sea fish known for its unusual, gelatinous appearance.It inhabits waters off the coasts of Australia, Tasmania, and New Zealand, atdepths ranging from 600 to 1,200 meters (2,000 to 3,900 feet). At suchdepths, the extreme pressure helps maintain the fish's structure.
However, when brought to the surface, the drastic reduction in pressurecauses the blobfish to “deflate” and appear soft and saggy, giving it itsdistinctive blob-like appearance. Blobfish gained popularity as “theworld's ugliest animal” after a 2013 online vote, which gave them a bit of acult following due to their peculiar appearance.
